
MIKE MATESSINO is an acclaimed soundtrack album producer, film and music historian and preservationist. His work encompasses all of the most well known composers of movie music and recordings spanning nine decades. Notably, Mike is the trusted producer of restorations and expansions for the legendary Maestro John Williams, a collaboration that has yielded numerous successful releases including Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Dracula, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Home Alone, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan and Harry Potter. Mike also served as Music Consultant on the 2024 documentary Music by John Williams and has additionally consulted on the live-to-picture concerts of the composer’s music. Mike has produced, edited, mixed and/or mastered hundreds of releases with many labels and studios, notably for the acclaimed Universal Studios Film Music Classics Collection, begun in 2018, and nearly three decades of work on the catalog of music from the films of 20th Century Fox. Mike co-wrote and produced the television special Hidden Hollywood: Treasures from the 20th Century Fox Vault, has also directed “making-of” documentaries on Alien, John Carpenter’s The Thing, The Last Starfighter, and most notably The Sound of Music: From Fact to Phenomenon. That project marked the beginning of his collaboration with legendary director Robert Wise, which ultimately led to serving as Associate Producer and Post-Production Supervisor on the highly successful Star Trek: The Motion Picture – The Director’s Edition. Most recently that association has come full circle with the Grammy-nominated Craft Recordings release of The Sound of Music (Super Deluxe Edition). Mike was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City and is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is based in Burbank, California.
